The dual casualty effect is a huge strain on our society. A few years ago, my mom was sick and she passed away from early-onset Alzheimer's, and watching my father manage her care was its own kind of slow devastation. There was no satisfying infrastructure to lean on. We looked. Ultimately, we handled it out ourselves, the way most families do, but it wasn't easy at all. Really important piece, LaSalle.
